A Map for Wrecked Girls Jessica Taylor Books
I'd actually rate this one a 3.5. The plot is intriguing - two sisters, along with a boy they just met, get stranded on a small island near Puerto Rico and have to learn to fend for themselves, especially after they realize help isn't coming. The story is told in alternate timelines - present day, which focuses on their survival, as well as the main character's growth into a person who stands up for themselves and realizes that she doesn't have to always live in the shadow of her older sister; and months ago, when a conflict happens that shakes the sisters' relationship to the core. The plot moved fairly well, although I think the past scenes could have gone a bit faster. My big frustration was in the main character. She's very reactionary and mousy. She doesn't learn to stand up for herself, especially against her sister, until the very end of the book. It got incredibly frustrating at times and made me want to pull my hair out and yell at her. It was nice to finally see her come into her own and stand up to her sister, who is incredibly manipulative and likes to hog the attention at the expense of others, but it took way too long to get to that point.Tags : Amazon.com: A Map for Wrecked Girls (9780735228115): Jessica Taylor: Books,Jessica Taylor,A Map for Wrecked Girls,Dial Books,0735228116,Action & Adventure - Survival Stories,Family - Siblings,Romance - Contemporary,Caribbean Area,Castaways,Castaways;Fiction.,Islands,Love,Romance fiction,Sisters,Sisters;Fiction.,Survival,Survival;Fiction.,Children: Young Adult (Gr. 10-12),Fiction-ActionAdventure,JUVENILE,Juvenile Fiction,Juvenile Grades 10-12 Ages 15+,TEEN'S FICTION - SURVIVAL STORIES,TEEN'S FICTION ROMANCE,United States,YOUNG ADULT FICTION,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Action & Adventure Survival Stories,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Family Siblings,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Romance Contemporary,Young Adult FictionAction & Adventure - Survival Stories,Young Adult FictionRomance - Contemporary, shipwrecked;page turner;castaway stories;sisters;romance;first love;survival;young adult;adventure;girl next door;tropical island;family;feminist;summer read;teen books;books for teens;books for teen girls;teen books for girls;young adult books;ya books;books for teens 12-16 girls;teen fiction books;teen romance books;young adult romance;romance books;teen books for boys;books for 13 year old girls;contemporary romance;books for 14 year old girls;romance novels;adventure books;teen girl books, sisters; sisterhood; siblings; romance; first love; desert island; survival; young adult; adventure; girl next door; tropical island; family; feminist; summer read; beach read; teen books; books for teens; books for teen girls; teen books for girls; young adult books; ya books; books for teens 12-16 girls; teen fiction books; teen romance books; teen romance books for girls; young adult romance; romance books; read in one sitting; shipwrecked; page turner; castaway stories; sex positive ya; sex positive; teen books for boys,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Action & Adventure Survival Stories,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Family Siblings,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Romance Contemporary,Young Adult FictionAction & Adventure - Survival Stories,Young Adult FictionRomance - Contemporary,YOUNG ADULT FICTION,Children: Young Adult (Gr. 10-12)
A Map for Wrecked Girls Jessica Taylor Books Reviews
I didn't like this book.
A great read. An intensely emotional sister-story (love these!) set on a desert island. Fresh characters who will stay with you.
INCREDIBLE. I could barely put this down -- such an intriguing, complex tale of sisterhood, secrets, and survival. I'll be recommending it to everyone!
Such a great vacation book. It was one of those that I devoured in nearly 1 day! Lots of secrets, friends, survival, fun, and emotional honesty that made me laugh and cry.
This was a very enjoyable read with just enough suspense to keep me turning the pages. At times I felt like I was stranded on the island with the sisters and Alex, wondering if they would ever be rescued. There was so much more to this story than surviving on an island. I would recommend this to anyone that likes reading about sisters, adventures, betrayal, loyalty, forgiveness and most of all love.
Jessica Taylor's A Map For Wrecked Girls is breath taking and beautiful. You'll want to get stranded on an island with this book. Every word will make you want to turn the page. What I love most about A Map For Wrecked Girls is that it captures the love, loss, betrayal, and survival of sisters in the ultimate test while still giving a love story I wanted to get lost in.
What would you do if you were shipwrecked with your sister and a stranger? Well if your sister was a manipulative crazy person it wouldn't be fun. Henri was horrible, she was needy and very angry. I get that she had a reason to be anger but she took it to a whole different level. Emma was naive and broken. However she found herself in that wreckage and was able to pull it together enough to save them all. More important she was able to free herself from her sisters grips and become her one person. In the mean time she fell into Alex, who had his own shady past and story. This was really fun story about misfortune, learning and forgiveness.
