How to Beguile a Duke How To Series Book 1 edition by Ally Broadfield Romance eBooks
The Spirited Catherine Malboeuf has just arrived in England to reclaim her ancestral home, Walsley Manor, and a valuable missing heirloom. Nicholas Adair, the attractive and frustratingly inflexible Duke of Boulstridge, however, is quite unwilling to sell the estate back to Catherine. Unless, of course, she accepts a small wager...Nick will sell Walsley Manor if--and only if--Catherine secures an offer of marriage from an eligible member of the ton before the end of the London season. And he thinks no one will offer for a lady who conceals weapons underneath her skirts.
What an exciting read! This is the first I have read by this author but will definitely look for more releases by Ally Broadfield. I like feisty heroines who are not afraid to stand up to strong heros and can hold their own. Once I started reading I did not want to lay this book down.
Plenty of mystery, suspense, fun, and romance within this cover. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves historical romance or for those who are trying the genre for the first time!

How to Beguile a Duke How To Series Book 1 edition by Ally Broadfield Romance eBooks Reviews
Thoroughly enjoyable book with a lovely balance of action and romance. While I did find a few places where editing was needed, they were minor and barely noticeable. Over all, the book was one of the best romances I have read lately.
I really liked the story line, as well as the h and H. There were a lot of twists and turns that lent interest and mystery to this novel. The mysteries are solved and the HEA provided and though there are solutions, some threads are left untied! Good story, good author, sweet romance.
Nice one - how he fell into his own trap - and of course captured the woman he loves. It is to the point - sometimes, i do like this kind of writing, especially novellas - so that you feel complete after reading - no loose ends.
I look forward to her other works now.
I didn't think this was as good as 'Just A Kiss' but still it kept me in right from the beginning. I don't like to write reviews that give too much of the book away I think it spoils it for the reader. I enjoyed reading this because of the character development and the storyline however I was disappointed with the ending. When I finish a book I don't like to be left wondering and this book felt unfinished because of that. Still it's a great read and the passion and verbal sparring between the two main characters keeps you entranced.
Still reading this but noticing a few spelling and grammatical errors which started to bother me. Not sure if this is because it's the version but even if it was, author should make sure and proofread again. Story was compelling enough for me to finish reading this. Some words were too modern for the genre and sometimes jolted me out of the story. While it's a good lighthearted historical romance, this one is not in the caliber of LeVeque or DL Carter.
Set in Regency England, Catherine, a determined, mind of her own, wealthy daughter of a shipping magnate from the Americas, must purchase the family's old estate, Walsley, no matter the price. Nicholas Adair, a duke and present owner of the estate, refuses to sell. He is appalled at this "chit's" behavior toward him and confident of getting rid of her, the Duke makes a wager with Catherine knowing she will lose and then will leave him alone. And the story is off and running. With well drawn characters (primary and secondary) and a fun plot, Ms. Broadfield sets the stage for a bit of a mystery and a lot of romance (which, fortunately, takes an appropriately nerve-rending time to develop). As historical romance/fiction goes, really well done. Glad I took a chance on it (and did so based on the reviews which were spot on).
There's nothing like a good wager to ensure a duke's downfall, is there?
Our duke is absolutely not going to get married, no matter what, you can't make him. Does anyone else remember that episode of Gilligan's Island when Gilligan says "I'm not gonna dress up like a girl, you can't make me, you can't make me, you can't make me?"
If you don't remember, this is a huge spoiler alert He winds up dressed like a girl.
That's kind of what Beguiling a Duke was like. And kind of why I loved Gilligan's Island.
Okay, totally not the same thing. There wasn't much yummy romance on GI, and there is here. Although I do remember a few episodes with drunken Russians, which Beguile has. So there's that. Oh, and intrigue. I was actually pretty surprised at the outcome--the whodunit parts had me going until the end, although the romance ran the predictable path--that's okay. It was kind of supposed to, so that the rest of the party could whirl around.
MY POINT IS-- and I do have one--is that I loved this book! A lot of romance, some good suspense, and nekkid parts. Don't forget the nekkid parts.
